Hi friends!
I have a little something up my sleeve for those of you who want to incorporate more music lessons into your kids’ lives…
I will be offering live music appreciation classes on Zoom for eight weeks this fall, beginning Tuesday, September 29th.
Here are all the details you need…
WHEN IS THIS HAPPENING?
Eight consecutive weeks, from September 29th – November 17th at 10:00am MST
(MST is the lost time zone of the four. Chances are, you are in one of these: 12:00pm EST, 11:00am CST, or 9:00am PST.)
Classes will last 30–45 minutes.
Classes will be recorded if you cannot attend live.
WHAT IS THE AGE RANGE?
This is a little tricky, because kids vary greatly in their interest and attention level. I will say roughly K5-5th grade. But that’s a rough estimate. You might find older and younger siblings listening in.
WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN IN THESE CLASSES?
Content…ah, the fun part!
Every week will contain a story or two about a great classical composer, some singing (you will get lyrics ahead of time), and a chance for your kids to learn and practice a Charlotte Mason-inspired chant that will help them internalize loads of composer facts in an engaging way. Over the course of our eight weeks together, we will cover the six composers from Series 1 of my online curriculum, A Kid’s Guide to Classical Composers.
I have 12 years of teaching experience in a classical school environment, and I’m confident I can provide your kids with an engaging experience. The Zoom part will be new, but the content is proven. We will move quickly, have fun, and learn a lot!
HOW MUCH WILL THESE CLASSES COST?
These content-rich online classes are being offered as a FREE add-on with the purchase of Series 1 of A Kid’s Guide to Classical Composers.
That’s right…purchase the curriculum and the online classes are free to you.
We will be working through the main content in our classes, but the curriculum also comes with loads of subject integration ideas for all ages and enrichment activities that will allow you to dig even deeper, if your weekly schedule permits.
But wait!
You might be asking:
Hey, I already purchased this curriculum…am I eligible?
YES.
If you have ever purchased Series 1 in the Kid’s Guide, you are in! Simply email me at kristi(at)kristihillmusic(dot)com to let me know what email address you used to purchase the curriculum. I will confirm your purchase and add you to the Zoom list. That’s it!
If you have not previously purchased the curriculum, you will automatically be added to the Zoom list after purchase. No need to email.
All participants will receive an email every Sunday prior to our Tuesday class. That email will include links to our pieces for the week, lyrics to our songs for the week, and the text for our composer chant. I encourage Musical Sketching to get kids engaged in active listening. The links will allow you to have your kids listen and sketch prior to Tuesdays. They will be ready to go when it’s time for class!
I am really looking forward to offering this opportunity for your kids. I hope it will provide a little blast of fun each week as we gather to celebrate great music that has stood the test of time and enjoy singing together. We will be learning songs from my hymns project – you can go ahead and start listening on Spotify or iTunes!
Music is a powerful source of joy, and I can’t wait to dive in with your kids and get started!
Blessings,
Kristi
